Monday Made It ~ I can't stop!!

I really thought I was done last week.  I had no intention of doing another Monday Made It post.  But I can not stop reading all the wonderful blogs and surfing through Pinterest.  Therefore, I'm back.

First I hopped on the class journal bandwagon and created these super cute journal covers.  On the fifth grade writing proficiency, my students have to write a specific genre with a prompt.  So my journals are labeled with not only a prompt but a genre requirement. (personal narrative, journal entry, persuasive letter, descriptive paragraph, fantasy)

Then I thought I was done.  Until Saturday night when I saw this pin from 4th Grade Frolics.  I have been stressing out about how to best show standards and objectives this year.  (We have never had to do this before, so I'm a bit worried about it.)  This is it!  I {puffy} heart love the way they turned out.  Now I just have to figure out how to hang them.  I'm thinking Command hooks - my favorite!

School starts next Thursday, but my room must be done by Sunday when we have Open House.  So absolutely NO MORE Monday Made Its for me!  (Maybe)

I have been working on my room, but I want to wait to share until it's all done.  Stay tuned!

Monday Made a Lot!

I'm linking up with Tara once again!  I love this linky, but I am going to try not to look too hard this week.  You guys make me want need to do more!

I got a ton done this week.  At home.  At school, not so much.  I walked in last Monday, took one look around, took a couple of pics and left!

Clearly I have a long way to go.  But I'm ready to hit the ground running this week.  I have been a busy, busy chick in preparation for facing the mess my room.  I finally decided to go with a color scheme and theme, so I was able to choose backgrounds, borders and clip art quickly.  I'm going with teal and black or brown and owls.

First I made myself new letters for a word wall.  I love them!, but the K got eaten by my laminator so I'm not all the way done with this project.  The background on this and the revision posters below is from Megan's Made 2 Match freebie!  I {love} these!

Next up: Revision Strategies Posters.  I got this idea from Chrissy at Buzzing with Mrs. B.  Love these!  I have been looking for something to hang on a ribbon, and these posters just may be it!

I printed and laminated my new Peanut Free Room sign:
You can get this for free from my TpT store.

Finally, I made an exit poster.  I've seen these around, but for the life of me can't find the person who did hers with fish and posted it on a recent Monday Made It.  Whoever you are, thanks!

I love how cute my owls turned out, and other than some tape runner tape, this whole thing was FREE.  I just need to run it through the laminator at school.  BUT - bloggy friends, I need your help!  I want it to say "WHOOOOO'S LEARNING?" but I can't figure out how to put the lettering on or what kind of lettering to use.  Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!  I still need to number the owls, too.  I am going to check out Pat Catan's (kind of like a cheaper Michael's) tomorrow and see if they have any cute number stickers, but I may just write them on each owl.

Anyway, I'm ready to tackle my room this week!  I'll post pictures soon!

Yay, it's Monday Made It!!

I have been waiting all week to share what I've been up to, and now's the time!

First up, I finally completed my Math Stations that I got from Becky at dots-n-spots.com and my favorite math guru, Scipi over at Go Figure!  Check out their sites for amazing resources!

Nothing too taxing here; just cut, laminate and trim.  But I wanted to share a trick that I used to make my pockets.  Let me preface that I bought the manila envelopes from your favorite dollar store and mine, and some of  them didn't have the little claspy thing on them.  After I rolled my eyes thinking, "You get what you pay for," I had an 'A-HA' moment!  Without the claspy things, I can safely run these envelopes through my laminator!  (OK, if you already knew that, just remember how cool you felt when you figured it out!)  I'm pretty sure you can't see it in the pictures, but the laminating sleeves I had didn't fully cover the envelopes.  I just left the top open.

For the envelopes to hold the number tiles, I laminated regular envelopes with matching squares on the front.  The pouches I used were again too small, and I just cut the short end of the envelope off to make a pocket that should last a good long time.

September down.  Only 8 months to go...  Thank God for TpT and creative people!

-----------------------------------------
Next up, the BIG project for the week.  Earlier this month I was inspired by The Meek Moose to create storage seating of my own.  I enlisted the help of my dad, and voila!  The hardest part of this whole thing was making decisions in Joanne Fabrics.  Many, many thanks to the ladies who helped indecisive me!

{Please note: I did actually help more than just snapping pictures!}

I love this and am thrilled with how it turned out.  I have the perfect spot for it under the windows, and can't wait to get to school this week and start setting up!

Up soon ~ pictures of my room.  I think most people will be shocked to see how small it is!

What great things have you been up to this week?  Can't wait to see what you've made!
